About Anneal
Anneal is a data science and AI practice based in Bendigo, working across Melbourne, Australia and APAC. We take commercial decisions that are made by intuition, model them, optimise them under real constraints, and put them into production with governance people can trust.
The same approach works for credit risk and marketing decisions in banking, pricing under regulatory constraint, and marketing spend and customer service agents for a DTC beverage brand.
The name
Annealing is heating a material and cooling it slowly so it's less brittle and easier to work with. Simulated annealing is also an optimisation method. Both describe what we do with data and decisions: transforming brittle data into flexible, resilient systems.
Doryan Gowty, Principal
Doryan's career started in statistics at the Australian Bureau of Statistics, then moved into credit and decision science at NAB, delivering modelling and strategy projects across risk, marketing, product and operations. Four of those years were in deposit and mortgage pricing, including leading the bank's mortgage pricing transformation as analytics and pricing lead.
At FICO, Doryan delivered decisioning and machine learning programs for major banks across APAC, and in 2019 wrote about analytic pricing for FICO's blog. Doryan founded Anneal to build the whole stack: data, models, production systems and governance.
Alongside the early work behind Anneal, Doryan directed the Brickworks Gallery, a small creative space for artists in Castlemaine run as a passion project.
